It's Good to Talk.

Mental Health Support for all Industrial and Engineering Workers

For the Engineers, Technicians, Offshore Workers, Steelmakers, Refinery Workers, Production Teams and everyone in between — who have carried too much in silence for too long.

No lectures. No judgement. Just a quiet, safe space to talk.

You don't have to carry it alone any more.

What this is

A quiet, safe space for the people who keep everything running

This site is for Engineers, Technicians, Offshore Workers, Steelmakers, Refinery Workers, Production Teams and everyone across Industrial and Engineering work who keeps going, keeps fixing, keeps showing up — and who rarely stops to ask how they themselves are really doing.

Engineering and Industrial culture is brilliant at solving problems. It is less good at admitting when the person doing the solving is struggling. That needs to change.

This is not here to analyse you or turn your life into a wellness project. It is here to offer a warm welcome, honest words, and trusted routes to real help.

I have worked with many stressed, burnt-out Men who were on the brink. Every single one of them needed support before they asked for it. This site is the answer I wish had existed then.

What you will find here

Simple, caring support without the usual noise

Everything here is designed to be warm, realistic and easy to return to when life feels heavy.

It's Good to Talk

The most important thing on this site. A reminder that talking — to a friend, a colleague, a helpline or even a stranger — changes everything. You do not have to carry this alone. Pick up the phone, book a chat, send a message. Just start.

Warm Reassurance

Words for the days when your head feels full, your energy is low and you need something gentler than advice shouted through a screen. Real words, for real people, in real situations.

Practical Signposting

Clear, calm links to real help when you need more support — including urgent crisis options and trusted UK organisations who understand Engineering and Industrial life.

Written for Workers, Not Patients

Straight, respectful language for practical people. No fluff, no jargon, no forced positivity. Just honest, caring words from someone who has been there.

No Selling, Ever

No products, memberships, funnels or pressure. This site exists to help, not to convert. It is a gift, given freely.

Quiet Updates

Gentle additions over time. Enough to be useful; not so much that it becomes another demand on your attention. This space grows at your pace, not ours.

How this site works

Built on four caring principles

This site is intentionally modest and warm. It is here to support, not to overwhelm.

Warmth First

The tone is always calm, caring and unhurried. No shouting, no panic, no guilt. Just a steady, warm welcome whenever you need it. Because that is what every Engineer and Worker deserves.

Respect the Reader

You are not a case file or a marketing lead. You are a person having a hard time, and you deserve to be treated that way. This site speaks to you as an equal — because you are one.

Honest About Limits

This is not therapy, diagnosis or medical advice. When real professional support is what is needed, the site says so clearly and points the way. Sometimes that means talking to a professional.

Low and Slow by Design

Simple, steady and always available. No content treadmill. No daily pressure. Just a quiet door that stays open. Day or night, shift or shore.

The reality in Engineering and Industry

The numbers are sobering — and they need saying out loud

These are not abstract statistics. They are your colleagues, your friends, and perhaps you. Mental health awareness in Engineering and Industry is not optional — it is overdue.

Behind every statistic is a real person. It's Good to Talk.

A simple truth

“It's Good to Talk.”

Whether you are an Engineer, Technician or Industrial Worker, the strongest thing you can do is say, out loud, that today is hard. Talking to another person — a mate, a family member, a colleague, a professional — does not make you weaker. It is one of the most practical, effective tools available. And unlike most tools, it costs nothing.

Mental health awareness in Engineering and Industry is crucial. High stress, demanding workloads and a culture that has historically suppressed emotional expression have created a silent crisis. The solution starts with leadership that speaks openly, workplaces that make it safe to struggle, and people who are willing to say — and mean it — “It's Good to Talk.”

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What is Mental Health is Mental Wealth?

It is a warm, caring support site built for Engineers, Technicians, Offshore Workers, Steelmakers, Refinery Workers, Production Teams and everyone in Industrial and Engineering work who carries too much in silence. It exists as a freely given gift — no selling, no subscriptions, no pressure. Our core message is simple: It's Good to Talk.

Why is mental health such a crisis in Engineering?

Research by EqualEngineers found that 1 in 4 Engineers has considered self-harm or taking their own life, over 37% describe their mental health as fair or poor, and 1 in 5 has lost a colleague to suicide. Male Engineers are 3.5 times more likely than women to have self-harmed or considered suicide. Engineering and Industrial culture has historically rewarded toughness and silence — but that culture is costing lives. That is why we say, loudly and without apology: It's Good to Talk.

Is this therapy or medical advice?

No. This site is not therapy, diagnosis, crisis care or medical advice. It is a warm, supportive, non-clinical space with honest guidance and clear links to trusted professional help where appropriate.

Where can I get urgent help right now?

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E now. If you need urgent mental health help but it is not an emergency, use NHS urgent support or call 111 and choose the mental health option. Does this site make money?

No. Mental Health is Mental Wealth is provided entirely as a gift. There are no products, subscriptions, courses, upsells or pressure of any kind. It exists because it matters.

What does “It's Good to Talk” mean to you?

I have worked alongside many stressed, burnt-out Engineers who were on the brink. Nearly all of them needed support before they knew how to ask for it. “It's Good to Talk” is not a slogan — it is the most important truth I know about mental health in the workplace. One conversation changes everything. This site exists to make that first conversation a little easier. — Darren Emery M.Sc., Senior Instrument Engineer & Technical Authority

How do I get in touch?

You can book a quiet, no-pressure chat via Calendly, send a WhatsApp message, or email hello@savingenergy.com. Replies are human, unhurried and caring. Not automated. Not a ticket. Just a person on the other end.

I've spent 35+ years working in Refineries, Offshore Platforms, Steelworks and Industrial Sites across the UK. I've seen first-hand what stress, silence and pressure do to good people. This site exists because I believe every Engineer and Industrial Worker deserves a warm, safe space to talk — without judgement, without cost, and without being sold to.
